- 225 g unsalted butter, softened
- 200 g granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 315 g all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- Red food coloring
- Green food coloring
Instructions
- Make the Dough – Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Add Dry Ingredients – In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until dough forms.
- Divide & Color – Divide dough in half. Color one half red and the other green. Wrap each portion and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll & Layer – Roll each dough portion into a rectangle between parchment paper. Stack red dough on top of green dough and gently press together.
- Form the Log – Roll tightly into a log. Wrap and chill for another 30 minutes.
- Slice & Bake – Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F. Slice dough into ½-inch rounds and place on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake – Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but not browned. Cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- Ensure your butter is at room temperature for easy creaming.
