Description
A rich and decadent layered chocolate brownie dessert that combines moist chocolate cake, creamy chocolate pudding, and silky ganache.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box dry chocolate cake mix (any brand)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 cups chocolate milk
- 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix (3 ounces – small box)
- 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
- ¾ cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ºF and spray a 9×13-baking pan with non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the dry cake mix, eggs and melted butter; stir until well combined. The brownie batter will be very thick. Spread into the prepared pan and bake for 13-14 minutes until the top springs back when you touch it. Allow the brownie base to cool to room temperature.
- Add the chocolate milk and pudding mix into a large bowl; whisk until well combined. Set aside for 5 minutes to allow the pudding to thicken.
- Once the pudding is thickened, spread it over the cooled cake layer. Place in the refrigerator.
- Pour the chocolate chips into a bowl. In a small saucepan, heat up the heavy cream just until boiling (or heat the cream in the microwave). Pour the heated cream over the chocolate chips and let the bowl sit for 5 minutes while the chocolate chips melt. Then stir until well combined and silky smooth. Set aside for 5 minutes to cool slightly. Then, drizzle the ganache evenly over the pudding and spread gently to cover. Chill for at least 2 hours. Cut into bars and serve.
Notes
- This dessert is best served chilled.
- For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate chips.
